GRADUATION AWARDS

Albert J. DiArcangelo Affinity Patient Advocacy Scholarship Dylan Joseph Tezak

              This award is given to a senior who demonstrates outstanding leadership, empathy for others, and has provided assistance to a non-profit organization.  This senior maintains a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 and will be majoring in Business, Social Work, Healthcare, Law or Political Science.     

Andre´ Thornton Award Luke Joseph LeBeau

The Andre´ Thornton Award is presented to a senior student-athlete who is dedicated to community service.  This recipient exhibits the qualities of service and character that André Thornton embodies.

Barbara Townsend (Henderson) Scholarship Emma Jaye Visnov

This award is given to a senior in the nursing/Allied Health program who embodies their work ethic,

passion for nursing as well as being community servants.

Barkley Elementary School Scholarships Maple Ann Maloney & Christopher R. Schlosman

            This award is being offered by the Barkley Home & School Association and is given to two senior            

            students who carry the values of community, friendship, and civic duty into their college careers.

Bob New was a graduate of the PAHS class of 1958. He was a local leader known for his knowledge of education & athletics, his generosity of spirit, and a strong devotion to his beloved Phoenixville. Therefore, this award is given to a student with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0, has participated in extracurricular activities, and has demonstrated outstanding school citizenship and leadership.

Charles Michael Steadman, Jr. Memorial Scholarship . . . . . . . . . . .  Ashlyn Estelle Duda

          This award is given to a student who has demonstrated academic, community service and athletic

          excellence and who will be attending a school of higher learning in a health related field. Michael

         Steadman Jr., a 1982 graduate of PAHS, and a graduate of Lock Haven University with a B.A. in Allied

        Health Science, served six years in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard Unit and was the Medic for the

       Scout Platoon of the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell. A graduate of the Air Assault School and

      The Combat Medic School in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Michael was awarded the Army Achievement

      Commendation Medal for saving soldiers’ lives during time stationed in Puerto Rico shortly before

     his death.

   This award is given to a student who has made the most improvements in grades and work ethic since Freshman year.

Dana Marie Carr Memorial Scholarship . ..  . . . . . . . ………………………….. Taylor M. Barker

Dana was a beloved second grader at Schuylkill Elementary School.  She died in a tragic automobile accident.  Fellow students and friends remember her as an angel full of smiles and giggles.  She was a friend   to all.  Dana wanted to be a teacher.  This scholarship is presented to help someone else achieve that dream.

            This award is given to the class valedictorian by the Bernstein family in memory of their son, a 1997 PAHS

valedictorian who died while serving his country in Iraq on October 18, 2003.

            This award is given in honor of Randi Carp’s legacy of service to her students and to her profession.

            This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who best exemplifies Randi’s love for music

 This award is given in memory of James T. Kassel, a 1982 graduate of PAHS who went on to become a dedicated husband and father and a successful corporate executive.  His life was tragically cut short with the crash of Swiss Air Flight 111 in 1998.  Jim was dearly loved by his family, friends and co-workers. He will always be remembered for his contagious enthusiasm and the happiness he brought to the lives he touched.  Some of his PAHS classmates have established this memorial. The recipient demonstrates exemplary academic performance, extra-curricular involvement, school spirit and zest for life.

This award is given to a senior who is in high standing in the classroom and in the community. They must have an interest in pursuing a post-high school education at a four-year college or university with the need for financial assistance.  Our family immigrated from India and has made Phoenixville our home for more than four decades. We believe in this community and giving back to young men & women who want to continue their education.  The recipient of this grant must share those same ideals.

This award is given to students who display supportive school spirit, and demonstrate

 of the Varsity Club.

            This award is given to a member of the field hockey team who has exhibited good sportsmanship,

           leadership and displays a positive attitude towards her team and school.

            This award is given to a senior who is academically successful, demonstrates a strong commitment

to the environment, and will be attending college to study Natural Sciences.

 Yogi Strom 2018 Sportsmanship Scholarship …………………………………. Jasmine Aleia Hamilton

            This award is given by the Pottstown Chapter of PIAA Basketball Officials, one senior boy and

 senior girl basketball player who are members of a Pioneer Athletic Conference (PAC) varsity

basketball team and who consistently display great sportsmanship and will be furthering

their education by attending a college or a trade school.  The Strom Sportsmanship Scholarship

 is awarded to students who play fair  and follow the rules of the game, are a positive contributor

 to the team during practices and  games, and respect themselves, their teammates, opponents, coaches and officials.
