An Amazing Night of Music, Color, and Pageantry

On Saturday October 26th, The Phoenixville Marching Phantoms and the Phantom Band Boosters held their 3rd annual "Phestival of Bands".   This event brought together 19 marching bands from Pennsylvania and New Jersey for an amazing night of music, color, and pageantry at Washington Field.

An event such as this takes months and months to plan.    Over 50 volunteers worked behind the scenes to make the night a success for the close to 1,500 student performers, 60 school buses, 40 equipment trucks, and almost 2,000 spectators that were on the entire PASD educational campus!    This competition was part of the local Cavalcade of Bands marching band circuit.  Celebrating their 60th anniversary, the Cavalcade of Bands sponsors multiple marching contests each weekend in the fall for over 130 high school bands in the tri-state area.  Groups are evaluated by trained adjudicators in the realm of both musical and visual performances.

5 Divisions of bands were represented Saturday night.  Pennsville HS (NJ), Sun Valley HS, Hatboro-Horsham HS, Hempfield HS, and Spring-Ford HS each won their respective division.   Marple Newtown HS and Great Valley HS were awarded the 'Espirit de Corps' award by a local representative of the US Marine Corps for their showmanship.     Phoenixville's own Marching Phantoms performed in exhibition at the end of the night for a packed house!

The member bands of the circuit will be heading to the championship events in a few weeks.  You can find out the results at cavalcadeofbands.com.
