Principal's Address

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,seal

Phoenixville Area High School hasn't been the same without you!  It seems like just yesterday we were saying goodbye to the class of 2017, summer festivities were just getting underway, and another school year seemed very far away.  Now, in just a little less than one week, we will welcome our students back to school for what will be another great year at Phoenixville Area High School.    I hope that each of you has had a wonderful summer and were able to make some lasting memories with your families.  Personally, I couldn't be more excited knowing that you will soon be back.   I am proud to say that I am entering my 13th year at Phoenixville Area High School.  The years have done little to dampen my enthusiasm and excitement for the beginning of a new school year.  I get up extra early to arrive to greet the staff and students and spend the entire day catching up with as many students as possible to get updates on all of the great things that took place over the summer.  I hope you share in my enthusiasm for what I anticipate will be an extraordinary year at PAHS.

As many of you are aware, PAHS prides itself on being a service-oriented school.  We recognize and understand the importance of giving back to our community who continue to give so much to us.  We will continue to seek out opportunities to continue to work with and support our community.  This year the high school will focus on celebrating and embracing the many people in the community Friday, September 15th on Washington Field at 7:00 PM during our football game.

Each year the high school selects a theme that we focus on throughout the building. This year our theme will be "without struggle there is no progress."  This coming year (2018) would have marked the 200th birthday of Frederick Douglass who was one of the greatest advocates for education and spoke passionately about the importance of all children receiving a quality education.  Through the leadership of Dr. Fegley,Superintendent, PASD will use some of the works of Frederick Douglass along with other amazing individuals to continue to share with our students the academic opportunities that are available and support them in accessing their full potential.  In an effort to support our theme this year, we will invite many guests to come in and speak to our students and share information regarding the need to push forward when things become challenging.  Moreover, we have partnered with the Frederick Douglass Institution who has donated 1400 books, The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass.  PAHS is the only school selected to participate in this partnership out of several thousand that were considered.

We have added some new faculty members to our high school who are very excited to meet our students.  Please take the time to introduce yourself when the time permits to ensure they feel a part of their new Phantom Phamily.

You should have received a district email/letter prior to August 3, 2017 requesting you to update your child(ren)’s information and complete the yearly sign-offs.  This information is vital to your child(ren)’s safety and well-being while at school (emergency contacts, health update, and yearly permissions). To update your information after August 1, 2017 either click the link in the email that you received or go to the district website at www.pasd.com.  Annual Student Update can be found under Parents in the main navigation bar.  To complete the process, you will need the 15-digit snapcode that was provided by the district.   If your child attended PASD as of the last day of school (June 9, 2017) and is returning for the 2017-2018 School Year, you must complete this process. The due date is August 27, 2017.

Student schedules will be released on Friday, August 25th at 4:00PM.  Students who need to make level adjustments for core subjects only, must schedule an appointment with your guidance counselor.

In closing, we are truly looking forward to getting off to a great start this coming school year! On Monday August 28th we will start with our class meetings for each of the grade levels.  We will begin with our 9th and 10th-grade students followed by our 11th and 12th-grade students.   It is our belief that this year will once again be one of our most memorable years.  I am anticipating a lot of celebrating taking place this year as we watch our students grow and accomplish a great deal in and outside of the classroom.  Please enjoy this last week of summer vacation with your families as we get ready to make great things happen at Phoenixville Area High School.
